Wall Paintings

In January 2021, as an intern with an international team of conservators at Le Prince Haveli in Shekhawati, I helped restore the vibrant wall paintings adorning its historic facade. Collaborating with experts from diverse countries and local artisans, we conducted scientific pigment analysis to revive intricate Rajasthani frescoes, using lime-based stabilization and natural pigments. Our meticulous restoration breathed life into faded motifs, preserving Shekhawati’s cultural narrative. We also documented the region’s rich mural heritage, creating detailed condition assessments and protective strategies to combat Rajasthan’s harsh climate. This three-month project, blending global expertise with local craftsmanship, transformed the haveli into a living canvas of history, ensuring its artistry endures for future generations. My role deepened my passion for safeguarding India’s heritage, making every restored stroke a testament to shared cultural legacy.
