Linden Observatory

In a visionary M-Arch project for the Linden Observatory Trust, we reimagined Sydney’s historic Linden Observatory as a dynamic museum and stargazing hub. Through meticulous adaptive reuse, we preserved the original 19th-century structures, restoring weathered timber and stone facades with heritage-compatible lime plaster. A modern visitor centre and accommodation complex were seamlessly integrated, echoing the site’s rustic aesthetic. Our heritage interpretation strategy introduced interactive digital displays and tactile exhibits, captivating visitors of all ages. By balancing conservation with contemporary functionality, we transformed Linden into a cultural beacon, safeguarding its astronomical legacy while inviting new generations to explore the cosmos.
